Soap Opera Veteran Robin Mattson Celebrates Her Birthday

Any appearance of Robin Mattson on television, regardless of how brief, is cause for joy. And the actress, who is perhaps best recognized for her role as Heather Webber on General Hospital, is celebrating a very significant achievement.

Happy Birthday, Robin Mattson

That’s because this brilliant soap hopper turned 67 years old today! She was born on June 1st, 1956, in Los Angeles, California. Mattson made her acting début in Namu, the Killer Whale in 1966.

She then made appearances on episodes of primetime shows including Flipper, Gentle Ben, Off to See the Wizard, and Daniel Boone in addition to Island of the Lost. She joined the Guiding Light ensemble in 1976 and played Hope Bauer, a recurring role.

After one year on the serial opera, Robin Mattson continued to appear as a guest star on nightly dramas such The Six Million Dollar Man, What Really Happened to the Class of ’65?, and James at 15. She has starred in a number of made-for-television movies, such as Superdome, Doctors Private Lives, Are You in the House Alone?, and Fantasies, as well as the movie Return to Macon County with Nick Nolte and Don Johnson.

Between 1980 to 1983, she portrayed Heather Webber on ABC’s General Hospital. She then moved to Ryan’s Hope to play Delia Reid Ryan (Ava from GH’s mother), before playing Gina Capwell, Santa Barbara’s primary con artist. She played the role from December 1985 to the final episode of the serial opera in January 1993.

She then spent six years playing Janet Green on All My Children. The Bold and the Beautiful (as Sugar), As the World Turns (as Cheri Love), and Days of our Lives (as Lee Michaels) are among Mattson’s other daytime appearances.

In addition to a six-month stay in 2004 and an extended reign between 2012 and 2014, Mattson has frequently returned to GH (always playing the Heather Webber character). Her other credits include cameo appearances on Law & Order, Fantasy Island, and Silk Stalkings.
