Past Big Brother winners Cody Calafiore and Derrick Levasseur agree that Big Brother 25 contestant Blue Kim has been a flop this season. While Blue has been playing the game in her own way throughout the competition, she wasn’t a fan before joining the Big Brother 25 cast. Blue had very little idea of how the show worked, which has made it difficult to watch her at times due to her astounding lack of knowledge surrounding the rules of the game. Even more, Blue’s gameplay style leaves a lot to be desired, especially to competitive beasts like Derrick and Cody.
In a recent episode of their podcast The Winner’s Circle (and shared by @theunhingedfan on Twitter), Cody and Derrick agreed that Blue hasn’t played a compelling game. Derrick, who won Big Brother 16, explained that “comparing yourself to Cory, who played the game the entire time…you’re an absolute flop. It’s the only reason you’re there. Nobody’s threatened by you.”

Cody, who came in second place on Big Brother 16 and then won Big Brother 22, chimed in, “It annoys me when I see these people on TV that so clearly are just there for TV…I don’t want to see people that want to be influencers play [Big Brother].”
Blue Kim’s Big Brother 25 Gameplay So Far
While Blue has had staying power in the Big Brother 25 house, facing the nomination block three times as of this week, she hasn’t had much else going on in the game. She first aligned with her showmance partner, Jared Fields, and was able to have protection for weeks at a time in the game by hiding behind him. After Jared’s eviction, Blue relocated her hiding spot to Matt Klotz and Jag Bains, whom she was aligned with early in the game, trying to protect herself with physically competitive shields. Outside of shielding herself, much of Blue’s gameplay revolves around information sharing in a dangerous way that doesn’t keep her safe.
While Blue’s gameplay does revolve around strategy that makes sense at the moment, it isn’t a great long-term strategy. She typically shares information she’s heard from other houseguests and twists it to fit her best case scenario. The problem is other houseguests are also consistently talking, and it’s likely that Blue’s version of events won’t match the other houseguests’. She’s been caught in lies several times, and has had her allies turn against her on more than one occasion because she talks more than she should. Ultimately, Blue’s gameplay suffers because she refuses to keep quiet in a house that thrives on whispers and drama.
For Derrick and Cody, who are two of the greatest Big Brother winners of the modern era, to comment so negatively on Blue’s gameplay isn’t shocking. While Derrick and Cody both deserved their wins, they were both competitors who valued competition over social game. Derrick did value his social game somewhat more than Cody, but putting stock solely in the social aspects of the game isn’t something either winner would be interested in. While Blue may not be as big of a flop as Derrick and Cody think, she definitely hasn’t been putting her best foot forward on Big Brother 25.
Big Brother season 25 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT, Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT, and Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
