While Curtis Ashford and Portia Robinson are due what they hope will be a miracle with his upcoming surgery on General Hospital, actor Donnell Turner is busy celebrating a very special milestone.
Happy Birthday, Donnell Turner
That’s because he was born on January 8, 1973, in Tacoma, Washington, which means that this very talented, and much-beloved performer, turned 51 years old Friday! Turner fell in love with acting during his youth, which eventually led him to make a difficult decision — pursue a career in the field or continue to play basketball, something he had been doing at a semi-pro level.
After much deliberation, Turner resigned from his team and relocated to Los Angeles. There, he quickly became a much-in-demand model and commercial artist, eventually racking up appearances in over 100 television ads.
Turner also found work as a production assistant and as a body double/stunt person for ER‘s Eriq La Salle and Criminal Minds‘ Shemar Moore. His association with the latter actor also translated into two cameo parts on the CBS procedural.
In 2009, Turner had his first taste of a daytime soap opera production schedule when he guest-starred on Days of our Lives as Dr. Aiden Williams. Subsequent gigs included spots on 2 Broke Girls, Baby Daddy, Parks and Recreation, 90210, and Dexter.
On November 19, 2015, it was announced that Turner would debut on the ABC soap General Hospital and he made his first appearance 11 days later. He has played private investigator-turned-nightclub-owner Curtis Ashford ever since.
Outside of his acting endeavors, Turner is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys, amongst other activities, yoga, kickboxing, and firearms training. He is also a motivational speaker, an advocate for Autism awareness, and the founder of the mentoring program that he christened the Turnround Project.
