Nicholas Chavez Explains Why Spencer Lied To Trina On General Hospital

Spencer and Trina now enjoy one of the most well-known youthful love stories on General Hospital, but he recently did something that, if the truth were to come out, would cause difficulties for the two down the road. Spencer and Trina went to the bank after getting a key from Victor in his will, and when they opened the safety deposit box, they found proof that would allow them to imprison Esme.

Quickly realizing that the evidence was faked, Spencer and Trina agreed that they should destroy it. However, after she was called away, he stashed the evidence back in the safety deposit box… just in case! It just goes to show that no matter how much Spencer and Trina love each other, they are very different people.

“Trina wants everything to be right and correct and I think that Spencer has a more flexible view of what right and correct means,” Nicholas Chavez (Spencer) admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “I think that it could prove to be a challenge that Trina and he have these different moral codes. It’s interesting because Spencer and Trina are so attracted to each other and they have a deep love for one another. But in terms of a value system, there is some crossover, but then there is this whole other side of each of them that doesn’t come into contact with one another.”

So while Trina may not be happy to learn that Spencer didn’t destroy the evidence as they agreed, he’s determined to do whatever he can to protect both her and Baby Ace from Esme. “I think he knows that he has to keep all of these cards in play, right?” Chavez mused. “Like, ‘This is a valuable asset and it could be helpful at some point so I can’t destroy it.’

“I do think that there is some guilt involved with not destroying it because he loves Trina,” he added. “but ultimately I think that he knows that it is the right decision and that in this instance, what Trina doesn’t know won’t kill her.”

So keep watching GH to see if Spencer ever decides to use the manufactured evidence against Esme and how Trina reacts to learning that he lied to her about destroying it!
